Verso is made by a small independent developer. For any question, bug report, or feedback, email [email protected] and you will get a reply.

When reporting a problem, it helps to include:

• your device and iOS or iPadOS version,
• the app version (Settings has an "About" row with the version and build),
• and a short description of what happened.

Common questions

How do I back up my library?

Your library lives only on your device. There are two ways to keep it safe:

• Device backup. If your iCloud or device backup is on, your Verso library is included automatically, so a reinstall or a new phone can restore it.
• Export a file. Settings, then Data and backup, then Export backup (JSON or CSV) saves your whole library as a file you can keep anywhere. Import backup brings it back in, and Import books from a CSV brings in a Goodreads, StoryGraph, or Calibre export.

What happens if I lose my phone?

If device backup was on, restore your device or sign in on a new one and reinstall Verso; your library comes back with it. If you also exported a backup file, you can import it at any time. If device backup was off and you never exported, the library cannot be recovered, because Verso keeps no copy on any server.

How do I restore my Verso Pro purchase?

Verso Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID. On a new device or after a reinstall, open the Verso Pro screen and choose Restore purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID that bought it, Pro unlocks again at no charge.

What does Verso Pro include?

A single one-time unlock, with no subscription and no account:

• Photo add-by-cover: find or add a book by photographing a cover or a printed ISBN, no barcode needed.
• The full theme library (the free warm, cream, and dark themes always stay free).
• Sync across devices: a future feature, included in the same one-time unlock when it ships.

Why is a book cover missing?

Covers come from public catalogues (Open Library and Google Books). Some editions, especially newer self-published or print-on-demand titles, simply have no cover in those catalogues yet. Open a book and pull down to Refresh to try again, or set your own cover photo from the book's detail screen.

Does Verso work offline?

Yes. Your whole library, the owned, wishlist and passed lists, and the "do I already own this" check all work with no connection. Only looking up a new book's details and covers needs the internet.

How do I add a book without scanning?

Use "Add a book" or the search field and type an ISBN, or a title or author. You can also add a book by hand when a catalogue has no record of it.

Privacy

Verso has no account, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your library stays on your device. The full privacy policy is at versobooks.github.io/verso-legal.
